Gaby lost a tooth while playing outside the other day and threw it in the yard before coming in. Of course I was shocked she hadn’t rushed in to put it under her pillow in expectation of what the tooth fairy might bring…

Gaby: The tooth-what?!?
Me: You know, she comes at night and trades you money for your tooth.
Gaby: Why?
Me: Because Gaby, eventually when you’re old all your teeth will fall out, the tooth fairy saves your teeth and gives them back to you…they’re called dentures.
Gaby: Ohh, but what about my other teeth I didn’t trade?
Me: I guess you’ll have gaps.

This is what I found her doing two minutes later…

To her dismay, she was not able to find her tooth…but we figured the tooth fairy wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between the real thing and a pebble in the dark.

We were right.

Gaby said a pebble would be better than a gap. ;)
