We have visited the public orphanage many times, but this particular visit was quite disturbing. Most funding has been pulled due to poor management and administration. The director himself was just arrested and charged with several counts of child molestation. On New Years Eve, there were only two workers for 70 children, aged infant – 12 years. Needless to say, it was a madhouse upon arrival. It only escalated with the sight of fruit and candy stuffed into a pinata, the mission team had brought. The obvious abuse and neglect of the children was heartbreaking…the worst I've seen. It wasn't long until we realized the chaos would be more than we could handle if we busted the pinata, thus having to lock ourselves into a room and allow only a few kids in at a time to pass out the treats.
Please keep these forgotten children in your prayers. Some are already hardened and others have begun the process. The last picture is of a boy who hasn't lost hope…yet. He's almost three years old and can't walk, but every time I see him, he has this bright light in his eyes and a loving smile…there's something special about him. I loath the day I'll return to find empty eyes and an absent smile, like so many others who've lost their will to survive.

Heart breaking. God’s children should never endure such pain. Pray for the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers!
